We got the chance to spend a night at a deluxe resort at Disney at the end of April this year, which isn’t something that fits in the budget often. We are lucky enough to live in Florida, just about 2.5 hours away from Disney and we’ve had annual passes for the last few years. Since we live close, we make multiple trips each year and since Maddie is still young, I usually opt to stay at least one night. I prefer the convenience and safety of staying on property whenever I can. About a year ago, I learned about renting DVC points to stay in Disney deluxe resorts, and that’s been the only way I have been able to try a couple of these pricey places. I snagged a reservation at Old Key West resort in January for the end of April for not much more than I was paying to stay at Pop Century! (This was before Pop Century became so overly expensive for what it is 😔).
We had a great time! We went to Epcot in the morning, and the bus took a while to pick us up… I have heard this is a drawback to staying at a resort this size 🤷♀️ but we managed. We ate some of our favorite foods from Flower and Garden Festival, did a bit more shopping than usual, then headed back to the resort to swim before our room was ready. We ordered food from Olivia’s for dinner and got to bring it back to our room, which was a wonderful option! It was delicious 😋! We took a rest for about an hour then hopped on a bus to the Magic Kingdom for extended hours. We rode Pirates of the Caribbean and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, got dole whips and almost went on Winnie the Pooh, but it was already midnight.
The next morning we slept in a bit since we stayed at Magic Kingdom till midnight, put our stuff in the car, then headed to Hollywood Studios for the day 🙃. We got to ride all the Toy Story rides (which are my favorite! If they ever moved that land to another park I would probably never go back to Hollywood Studios 😅🤭). We tried the green milk (finally! It’s not as good as the blue 😃) and got some of our favorite foods 😋. I let Maddie shop on our way out and we left later than I intended to, but we had a really great day 🤷♀️😃🥰
