What countries do you want to visit?
My number one bucket list destination is Australia. I have wanted to go there for years. Before I went into the Navy, a few friends and I looked into moving there with a working visa, but the plans fell through. When I was pregnant with my daughter, my ex-husband started a savings account for us to have a honeymoon in Australia (we had a wedding, but no honeymoon). I thought we would go the year after I had Maddie and leave her with family… but once I had her, that was no longer something that sounded good. Then I separated from her dad and got divorced, so now the new wish is to go with her when she’s a little bit older.
The other must-see for me is the Galapagos Islands, and maybe Easter Island. I have always been borderline obsessed with biology and science, and the Galapagos has so much biological and evolutionary significance. I think it will be amazing to take Maddie there when she is a few years older and experience that with her.
I would also love to see New Zealand, Fiji, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Spain, Portugal, Iceland, Norway, (specifically Svalbard), Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica and maybe Peru.
I don’t have much desire to visit Europe… that may change as I get older, but I have never felt a strong desire to go there. When I was younger, I was obsessed with Africa and Brazil (more specifically, the Amazon rainforest in Brazil). I got to visit Brazil in my early 20s, and though it wasn’t the Amazon expedition that I had dreamed of, seeing it in person has satisfied my curiosity of that area. As for Africa, I understand the logistics and potential problems that visiting there could bring, so it’s no longer high on my ‘must-do’ list… maybe one day it will make it back into my top 10 bucket list.
